Horses:

Welcome to Gateway 2 Ranch and the home of Edition Warmbloods. At the moment there are 10 horses all related to original 4 mares: L.E. Mira, Diva and Winnie. Last year's babies are now yearlings and this summer Epona and Magic were bred to Sandstorm and Pacific Star. Winnie lost her (and Liz's) baby Monet in February from unexpected colic and we all miss him terribly.

The horses at Gateway live an idyllic life. They are free to roam on 320 acres with meadows, forests, lakes and incredible views. They generally rotate on a daily basis leaving late afternoon in the spring and summer and returning in the early morning. They enjoy the freedom to live like a wild herd and the interaction with people as well. They are all adored and their welfare and happiness is foremost. Liz and the horses interact freely, playing and learning together without halters or leads.

The horses enjoy participating because it is fun and rewarding (lots of treats and praise) They are invited rather than forced. When Liz enters the paddock several horses surround her and when they are asked who wants to play, the first one out of the gate wins. There is no strict agenda, just learning and growing together. Liz is interested in many riding styles from dressage to natural horsemanship but generally rides with a halter and bareback. She hosts a small yearly Parelli clinic with Jonathon Field (usually about 4 - 6 friends) and as well uses principles from centered and connected riding and T-Touch, among other holistic riding practices.

The important underlying principle is respect and consideration for the horse and lightness in communicating the aids. Connection of body, mind and spirit is the ultimate goal. The horses at Gateway are considered family (Liz's children) but occasionally she will sell some of the babies (more accurately find them perfect homes and life partners).
She always discusses plans with the horses and ultimately they make the decision. Some would choose more exclusive and individual attention to life in the herd.

Max and Mira found new homes this year and Picasso and Miro are looking for their perfect partners. Winnie and Magic are open to staying and having babies or if the right person comes along having them all to themselves. They both love attention of any kind. Click on pictures to see the herd.
